Beds?

What is with all these people with kids my kids' age moving them to big boy/girl beds??  AHH!!

Granted, some of them are pregnant & want the crib for baby #2.  And granted none of them have triplets.  I just can not imagine that my kids would for 1 second go to bed nicely if they had that freedom!  And I imagine they'd be up at night.  And out of bed earlier in the morning.  None of which sound appealing to me.  Yeah, the beds are cute.  Pillows, tucked in sheets all "snug as a bug."  And its a big milestone.  Granted, my kids do not crawl out of their cribs (though there have been a few legs thrown up over the rail here & there so hopefully typing this doesn't jinx us!) so my view might be different if we had an excapee or 2.  But seriously, I'm thinking we'll be the people with crib tents trapping our kids in cribs until they are ready for Kindergarten!!  Or college?

So just out of curiosity, when did you, or when do you plan on moving your tot to a "Big Boy/Girl Bed?"

"Melmo!"

We have yet another Livi word.

My kids rarely watch TV.  Not that we don't have it on, they just don't have the attention span & could really care less about it.  I got an Elmo sing-along DVD out of the $5 bin at Walmart last week & we watched it the other day, one time.  I talked about Elmo, pointed him out & Livi repeated "Melmo."

So today (apparently I wasn't home, this comes from Jeff) he put on the video & immediately Livi was exclaiming "Melmo!!!"  When it was over & he switched to the CARS movie, she was MAD!  When I got home we showed her the DVD case & again she was saying "Melmo!"

Can you see us having to play a CARS movie in one room & "Melmo" in the other?!?!

TWO!

Livi can count!!  To two!

Well sort of.  Everytime I say "One"... she says "Two."  Sometimes if I say "Three" she will copy "tree??"  But usually she just goes back to "Two."

So our house sounds like: "one...two...three...two...one...two...three...two...one...two..."

Either that or she says "Mom" & I say "Livi."  So we get a banter going of: "Mom...Livi...Mom...Livi...Mom...Livi..." until she chuckles & says "HI!"

Wednesday she also said "Melmo" when we were watching Elmo.  Mostly a repeating sound thing though as opposed to knowing what she is saying, but I think {hope} she is just sitting on the brink of a word explosion?  She continues to say "Papa" a lot & occasionally a "Maa-maw."  She constantly talks about her "baby" & she has also been saying a lot of "Me-me."  We try not to say "Mine" at our house, more so "Mommy's" or "Hayden's," etc.  So I'm not sure if she is trying to say Livi??  Or what exactly that is going to turn out to mean?

Hayden is still chatting up a storm.  He tells great stories, though they are mostly in Chinese.  With a few comprehendable English words thrown in there.

Logan, he just vrooms.  He always has to have 2 cars, one for each hand.  And this week he discovered if he tucks one under his armpit... he can carry THREE!  Sets one down for a second to wave {because obviously thats what cars do, go bye-bye}... says "vroom" & carries on about his business.  Completely obsessed.  Eats & sleeps with a car in hand.  Literally, 100% of the time, cars!

Surgery Date

August 19.
Its a Friday.
At Boys Town.

We just couldn't get the Thursday schedule to work out for us at Childrens.  So rather we are doing Boys Town on a Friday morning.  They are aiming for 7am, (meaning be there around 5:30!) though we have not heard from Boys Town yet as to their schedule that day, so it might be later.  I probably won't know until a week or so before when they call me with the details.

Both Jeff & I should have the Saturday & Sunday after off, incase Livi needs a little 1-to-1 loving.  Though they tell me it is an easy out patient surgery & she can resume normal activities (with the exception of a few including swimming & sand) the very next day.

No need to wait... start up the praying now!  I am nervous, excited, ready & not-ready all at the same time!

July 4, 2011

Neither Jeff nor I are big July 4th celebrators.  I'm all for sitting & watching a well put together fireworks display, but I'm not a fan of lighting them.  I prefer to keep my limbs & face intact.

I didn't sleep well Sunday night as the neighbor kids were still lighting off fireworks after midnight.  I spent the afternoon cleaning house, Jeff doing yardwork, while the kids slept.  But we managed to have ourselves a fun afternoon/evening.  We tried going to the pool.  Tried, meaning we got there at 3:36 only to discover it was closing at 4.  So we rather swam & played in our back yard.  Had a yummy "All American" supper of spaghetti!  We talked about staying up late & going to watch a fireworks show.  But mama & papa were tired & not up for dealing with late night tantrums or the concern of 3 kiddos being scared of the "boom".  So we all went to bed early & we all managed to sleep pretty well through all the late night booms.  And I must say, I quite enjoyed my 10 hours of sleep!!  I need more of those kind of nights in my life!

We hope you all had a wonderful 4th, however you chose to celebrate!

Hayden
(yes he has an eye boo-boo... this age is rough!)
 Olivia
 Logan
SO hard to get a picture of all 3 of them!
Watching the "boom"s out the front window.  Both Livi & Hayden can say "Boom!"
Playing outside in the afternoon.
Sprinkler Fun!
 Logan
 Olivia
She got brave enough to run through on her own!
Hayden got the hang of it too!
This is their new dangerous act!
Hayden took a break & did a little "cooking"
Logan did some swimming.  Our 1st "real" swimmer on his belly!!
Livi did the "girl" thing.  Chillin' by the pool catching some rays!
We had a fun afternoon!!

Some Completely Random Notes

I was JUST saying that Olivia better watch it or Hayden is going to catch her in the talking category.  He has been talking up a storm lately!  So what if most of it sounds like Chinese.  He has a few new things he says including "uh-oh" & Grandpa "papa," which came completely out of the blue at my grandparent's house this weekend (though we can't get him to say it on a regular basis.)  And then, just like that, viola, Livi spouted out a handful of new words.  She also says Grandpa "papa."  And I think she says Grandma too.  Jeff is "daddy," I am just "Mom" but when we ask her to say Grandma, she sometimes says "Maa-maw"... so I'm thinking thats it?  She sometimes says "papa" for Grandma too, so we'll keep working on that.  (And just an FYI:  I have heard that a lot of kids say G-pa before G-ma because its easier.)  Then Wednesday night randomly she was saying "baby."  And Friday afternoon I heard her say "GO" as she pushed herself down the slide.  And asked to get "Out" when she was done swinging.  So that is 5 new words in just a few days.  Plus, this week she also now says a duck says "quat quat" & a bunny says... {enter noise of clicking tongue}... think Bugs Bunny chewing on a carrot noise.  Wednesday, Logan was telling people at Target "HI" as opposed to his usual "HEY" {We call him the Fonz!}  So I guess that's vocab progress for him too?  He's way to obsessed "vroom"ing to talk.

When I say Logan is obsessed with "Vroom"s... I mean this week we left Walmart with CARS sippy cups that we did not really need.  And he was still holding onto them 2 hours later after supper.  It took a bribe of a bath to steal them away.  So we also bought the movie.  Hillarious!  Hillarious watching the kids watch it that is.  Logan claps, dances & blows kisses at the cars on TV.  Literally blows kisses at the TV!  (They all blow kisses now)  He just gets so excited!  Attention span still pretty short though.  15 minutes of sitting still max.  He is very excited about airplanes right now too & spends lots of time pointing up at the sky.

After Logan's visit to the ped for his "hurt" foot, I weighed the kids at home since I couldn't remember for sure what it said Logan weighed.  According to our scale, Logan & Livi are 24 pounds.  So I'm guessing he must have been 23lbs 12oz that day.  I also tried to see how tall they are.  By my measurements Logan is 31.5 in, Olivia 32 in & Hayden 33 in.  Making Logan like the 20% & the 15% for height.  Olivia the 40% for weight & 45% for height.  And Hayden, by my scale, is 29 pounds!  OMG!!  He is an OX!  Thats 80% for weight & 50% for height.  I'm curious what clothes sizes we're going to need this fall?  Now Hayden is in 24s, Logan in 18s & Livi in some 18 & some 24.  Thinking of bumping to the 'T' sizes just seems weird.  Means they are getting "old."

And on Wednesday Livi was the straw.  The straw you ask?  Yes, the straw.  The straw that broke the camel's back.  After a 45 minute drive to Lincoln during which she screamed the entire time, carseats got flipped.  {tear}  I'm going to bet that the extremist extended rear facing pushers do not have a Livi.  (I'm obviously pro extended RF too, but I'm not about to tell someone they are going to hell for turning their 4 year old forward facing.  Yes those people exist.  Trust me.)  If you need a visual, by screaming I'm talking scream til she coughs & gags.  Bloody murder.  Like I couldn't scream that loud if I were yelling "rape!"  We're lucky she doesn't puke on herself... SCREAMS.  And as of late its non-stop & pretty much her norm.  Attempts of toys, treats & sippy cups fail miserably & just get thrown in a fit of rage.

So while my latest agenda was to wait until fall, closer to 2, when the drama of warm, winter clothes & coats to flip them.  Out of the blue, Wednesday was the day.  (Honestly I knew it would be an out of the blue decision)  While I'm sad we didn't make it to the current recommentation of a minimum of 2 years, I am pretty proud we made it to 19 1/2 months since my goal was 15!  We've not driven anywhere with them FF in the van yet, so I guess I can't toot the horn yet as to if it haults the screams!  If it doesn't, you might will probably hear me screaming from wherever you are.

Olivia's bottom right eye tooth is SO close to breaking through.  It needs to hurry up before she withers away.  She literally has not eaten but 4 bites in over a week because of these darn teeth.  She drinks milk like a addict.... which lead to our first go round with battling constipation.  So we are trying to limit her on that a bit & try to keep her from stealing her brothers milk cups.  Beyond that she is tolerating it well.  Logan, in fits of excitement, has bitten both Jeff & I this week.  And Hayden has taken on biting as an act of battle.  As in, he has attempted to bite me several times this week mid-tantrum.  To the extent that he grabbed my hand & stuck it in his mouth to bite me!  And he got himself into a bit of trouble when he also clampped down on his brother's leg mid-fight this week too.  We have never had a biting issue that didn't accompany teething.  And he is still Mr. Drool.  I just swear somewhere back there he has to be getting something too?!  Right?! Hopefully its just that & not an issue that is going to continue.

Told you it was random...

Redemption?

2011 at our house is gaining a little redemption, a little.  Maybe?
It started out ROUGH!  Between Christmas & mid-March, all 3 kids were in the ER & I was in urgent care for my finger car door accident.  {Which still gives me a little trouble now & again.  Around a calcium deposit site the muscles still get tight if I'm not actively home PTing it regularly.  Still not full sensation on the tip of that pinky, but its much, much improved.}  And despite what seems to be a neverending rotation of snot & unexplained 24 hour fevers, we have been well since our earlier this year flu.

Jeff's class schedule changed this summer last minute when a fall class popped up that hadn't previously been available, making our June & July oh so much better & his financial aid situation more acceptable.  One of those "this is too good to be true" types of better & we are holding our breath waiting for something to drop!

We have a few other things brewing in our lives & in the lives of our families.  Needless to say the end of 2011 is building up to hopefully be a very eventful & positive end of the year.  Fingers crossed!
I hope you all have a wonderfull summer & a fantastic second half of 2011!
