Livi has energy today & her temp is just in the 99s.... so I think she is on the up side of this! She has spent days & days peeing just 2x a day, but I think now that this fever is going, she will get better hydrated again & feel a lot better soon. Still an awful cough though.
Hayden is status quo. His cough tends to be the worst of them, so he isn't sleeping well. But since he doesn't get fevers like the other 2, he has handled this well. I think it was the days & days of fever that made this so hard. He is super sensitive & coughs until he gags still sometimes.
Logan, his fever is up & down today. And so is his energy. Livi's fever lasted a solid 5-6 days, so I'm not expecting rebound from him until Weds or so. His eyes are still watering & he is still peeing 2x a day, with us pushing fluids. He hangs about 99.6-103 & we're still doing Tylenol & Motrin rotating every 3 hours. He has an icky, productive cough that I imagine makes him feel like someone is standing on his chest when the phlem rattles around.
Poor babies!
So tonight they went to bed at 7. And I'm sure I won't be up to ring in 2013 either!
Happy New Year!
Holiday sickness is inevitable
We got through Thanksgiving scott free... but Christmas caught us.
Family, friends, holidays= GERMS!
We are SICK!
Wednesday at noon, after having Christmas at home, Livi asked to go take a nap. Weird. She kinda-maybe had a low grade fever, so we gave her Motrin & sent her to bed. She woke up a solid 102.... walked out in the hallway...and puked.
We have spent the days since giving motrin & tylenol on a rotating basis every 3 hours. Like setting alarm clocks to not miss a dose to keep that fever under 102. Like an all out cold wash clothes on her head & neck, radiating heat, roasting, would probably be 105 if left untreated, fever. Like forcing fluids & keeping a "charting" sheet of her meds & voids (thank goodness she is still peeing!) fever. She has puked a few times, mostly just from coughing or taking tylenol on an empty stomach. She coughs... and coughs... and coughs. And looks pale, awful, exhausted! Poor baby. She has her up moments yesterday & today, they are short bursts & she naps quite a bit. Her fever came & went a little today, but it still hangs out up there a lot. She ate a little. She looks like she got hit by a truck. We have given her albuterol a few times, mostly just as a precaution, but so far it appears she is handling this sickness ok from a respiratory standpoint!
Hayden, Thursday, puked once. Has a horrible cough. Is currently "sleeping" with us in bed so he can sleep sitting up to drain his sinuses. Has a fever of 99.5 (which for him is a high fever). But has managed to keep eating somewhat. So far he's not taking it nearly as hard as Liv, but his fever shouldn't wipe him out like hers I'm sure does.
Logan's cough just started today. His temp is maybe 99. But its him I'm worried about. Not now, but he is my fever kid & if Livi's fever is so high, he will be 107 if he gets this to the extent she has it. I'm certain of it. So we're keeping a close eye on his fluids & temp, but so far so good.
And I feel awful today. Partially lack of sleep. But my head & neck hurt so bad today at work that I thought my head would surely explode. I was in cold sweats on & off. Sweaty hands. I was freezing & discovered when I got home from work around 12:30, that I had a temp of 99.2 (which for me is very high) & now its 99.7. My stomach is iffy, I have eaten a little bit, but not taken any motrin or tylenol because I feel like its going to upset my stomach & I'll feel even worse. I got in a good nap & that helped quite a bit. But I just feel on the crummy side.
Analeigh tested positive for influenza A a week or 10 days ago, despite getting the flu shot. And I have heard several pediatricians at work say they have seen quite a bit of it in patients who got vaccinated, so its not covering well this year. So I'm fairly certain thats what we've got. Our symptoms match hers exactly. Her fever lasted 7-8 days, so I think we are in this one for the long haul. They complain of no ear aches. Everyone is peeing. No one is in respiratory distress. Everyone I know who has this sickness is going to the Dr & being told its viral, so we're just laying low & waiting for it to work its way out. Hurry please! Actully one of my co-workers daughter has this crud too. She is 8 & feels so awful her pediatrician gave her some Tylenol with Codeine for her aches. Makes me wonder how awful my babies feel from all that coughing & coughing :(
Good thing Santa got us lots of new DVDs in our stockings to make the lazy days on the pull out couch just a little brighter. And good thing so far daddy is still standing! He has done such an amazing job with the kids while I worked & napped!
Livi has been carrying around a bowl, because she is worried she is going to puke again. So the boys think they need bowls too. They even cried getting tucked into bed because "I need my cough bowl in bed." They hold them up over their faces when they cough. That technique would do absolutely nothing to catch any puke if it happened, but I guess it covers their cough? (and makes me giggle a little bit)
Hope everyone else is staying healthy!!

Christmas Program
Our kids had their first Christmas program! Their daycare 3 & 4 year old & Pre-K classes put on a holiday program. Each class "sang" 2 songs. It was the most hillarious thing I have seen in quite some time. Oh my its amazing to watch kids' personalities.
Our kids... well Logan did some of the actions & maybe sang a little. Hayden, who I thought was going to cry at the very beginning, stood there & tried to pull his shirt up over his head. And Olivia, stood there in a shy, silent stance. But given that 8 weeks ago when they started daycare the was tears & terror at drop off, the fact that they walked down the hallway with their teacher in a new environment, walked out on stage, stood nice & didn't cry, I guess it would be asking a little much for them to actually sing. (Though they do all know the words & sing them at home endlessly!)

Little Logan walking out on stage.
Logan. I think he was the smallest one in his class! I'm not sure how old the other 3 year olds are in their class? (I mean I know they are all 3, but are they just 3 or almost 4?) I didn't think he was THAT little.
Logan is the 2nd from the left. Hayden & Olivia are on the right.
Hayden... sticking that big ole' belly out before the shirt came 1/2 way up.
The best I could get of a picture afterwards. Santa made an appearance & they each got a little stuffed animal.
And cookies afterwards of course!

Picture dump.
We had a blizzard here this week. Dumped like 8 inches of snow overnight. And oh, how the winds howled. 41,000 people without power. Our power blinked a lot, but we were lucky & it stayed on. I braved the snow that first morning to head to work. (Left 45 mins early!) Jeff & the kids enjoyed their frist snow day!
And because I don't have much else to say, here is a completely random picture dump. Enjoy :)
Almost old enough to be of some help around the house!
Out to the "french fry store" (McDonalds) sitting at their favorite "football Huskers" table before a night out to look at Christmas lights.
We are in need of 3 bigger carseats (& a new car that will hold them!)
LOVING Christmas cards & smiling faces to brighten a snowy day.
The first snow! It didn't stick around very long.
"Its melting on my fingers mom!"
Got 3 ornaments, made with love from our trio for Christmas from their daycare. Fingerprint reindeer! LOVE :)
December 19 blizzard! Playing in the snow as the blizzard rolled in.
Building a snowman!
FROSTY!!
Staying out of the cold making cookies with mom! I love that the space in our new house allows us to do these fun things we didn't have very good space for in our old house.
Mine....
Theirs....
But they were a pretty awesome cookie making crew!
Spread out to cool off.
This is one that Livi cut out & picked up all by herself!
Apparently somebody snuck in a taste test while they were cooling!
Built a sweet train track while we waited.
Then we frosted a few to eat! They picked their own color frosting.
"I licked it!"
And covered them with various sprinkles.
YUM!!
My heart is full!! Hope you are having a great week & staying safe & warm!!
SANTA!
We went to see Santa!! The kids were excited about going to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. They all actually walked up to him {& only one cried!!} This Santa was super great with them & keeping them near him for pictures.
Logan walked right up & said "I want a Mac Truck!"
They chatted him up while mommy paid for the picture.
Livi wants a "pony" & Hayden wants a "big monster truck that makes noise."
Analeigh joined us for a quick picture. Since Hayden cried.... she cried! 50% isn't bad I guess!
Enjoying our candy canes from Santa!!
And a ride on the carousel after Santa & lunch. What more could they ask for!!
Our official Santa picture 2012!
This is the first year we didn't have to have adults in the picture!
