Community Days 2012

Our Community Days was this weekend....
Jeff ran the 3K in the morning (while us 4 sickies slept). He kicked his last year's time's butt!  He hit up the panake breakfast (while us 4 sickies slept)....and then despite the 100+ degree heat & our sickness, we managed to at least get out & enjoy a little fun in the sun.

When I got out of the shower in the morning Hayden & Olivia were sitting on my pillow in my bedroom doorway....looking down the hall... saying "The tractor's coming!  See the Mack Truck.  It threw candy at me!"  They were PLAYING parade.  They were feeling quite a bit better.  Logan was still asleep.  So despite the fact that I caught their crud & felt like complete crap, I sucked it up & we hit the parade.  Figured a little sun might do me some good & we can at least keep our germs to ourselves there.

We found a good spot out infront of our church (close to a potty incase needed).  And we were in the shade for at least the first 20 mins.  The parade started at 10:30 & we weren't leaving until 12:15.  It was LONG!!  But the kids stayed entertained the whole time!  And the people in the parade do an AWESOME job of handing out things like popsicles & water bottles instead of just candy. Plus lots of floats have water guns & spray on-lookers too!  So we stayed pretty cool & hydrated.

The boys were of course scared of the loud firetrucks.  How are they so scared of things they are so intrigued by?
My brave little princess of course was her brave, not scared of anything self!
Collecting candy & political stickers of every form!
As you can see, she took the political stickers & candy pretty seriously!  Check out the blue sucker piece stuck to her face ;)
Love the accordian playing guy who is always in the parade!
There were 2 little boys sitting next to us, had to be about 10 years old.  Their parents must have told them they were too old & they needed to let the little kids get the candy.  So they did.  Sat still, not getting anything.  Leaving it all lay for our kids to get.  Handing it to them.  Etc.  Took me a while to figure out what was going on.  So I started having our kids bring them candy too.  They said it was ok, the kids could have it & when I told them they were too little to eat that hard candy anyway, you could of swore it was Christmas in their faces!  They had a great time after that.  Our 3 kids & the 2 of them trading hard candy for smarties/suckers.  All 5 kids went home with plenty!!  The kids realy got the hang of going out & getting it.  It really helped that they had a chance to ease into it without the crazy mad dash of kids there were last weekend.
The kids yelled & screamed in excitement.  Thought this was cookie monster!!
 Carnations from the flower shop!
 Livi's loot!
Logan with a flag he brought home from the parade.  I think he thought he was a flag girl from the band!
Breathing treatments after our fun morning.... followed by a 3 hour nap for Hayd & Liv and an almost 4 hour nap for Logan.

Olivia & Hayden are feeling much better.  No more Livi ear owies.  Still some runny noses & occasional coughing.  But we have been doing 3x a day breathing treatments to keep the crud from building up in those lungs.  Logan is somewhat better too, but not as much.  Still pretty coughy.  A lot of nose drainage.  But he is at least eating now.  Its been a whole week for him of sickness.

I still have the crud too.  My sinuses just haven't been the same since the kids had RSV.  In hindsight I had a sinus infection then that never got treated & it took me 6 weeks to get over it on my own.  And I've never quite been the same since.  Pretty sure another sinus infection is what is plaguing me now too & I seem to get one every cold the kids get.  Maybe thats what Logan has too??

We may have missed the race.  The pancake feed.  The various picnics in the parks.  The bounce houses.  The fireworks.  The car show.  But I'm glad we at least got to enjoy the parade!!
