The final count down to teeth....

Logan has an eye tooth finally!  One of the bottom ones, though I can't remember which one?  Saw the little white spike poked through during a temper tantrum cry fest just the other day.  He has 3-4 fingers in his mouth almost at all times.  Poor little dude.  I'm sure they are all coming.

Livi just has 1 eye tooth left & Logan is waiting for the other 3.

That means our road to baby teeth is only 4 teeth away from it's end.  {well except for a few more molars down the road} What a great feeling!!

And just like that...

I think Logan is pretty much caught up to Hayden in vocab.  Almost.  And it happened overnight.  He now says down, out, done, duck, makes probably 10-12+ animal noises.  And slew of other things I just can't think of off hand.  Just one day out of the blue rattled off like 6 new words.  And all of the sudden his mumbled "ca-coe" "gecko" verion of Elmo... now also is a clear "Melmo" like Liv & Hayden.  Music to my ears.  He's been silently taking it all in... I'm just waiting for him to start talking sentences around Hayden & Livi.

Livi has the word Addie mastered.  "Ahh D" is kind of how it usually sounds.  Best we can get out of the boys still sounds like daddy.  Lots of "papa"s but otherwise a standstill on learning family's names.

On a side note, Livi had a little physical today, preperation for her surgery next week.  {Yep, thats next week.  Say a few prayers.}  Dr. Fran was minimaly concerned with her still runny nose & congestion from last week in terms of pre-op.  So were going to do some benadryl to try to dry her out & I have in hand a prescription for antibiotics if she's not clear by early next week.  Ears & throat looked good & lungs sounded perfectly clear though.  But if she gets any goopy eyes or a cough or is still too snotty/congested from this cold come mid-week... we may have to put surgery on hold... since all those sinus, throat, eye, ear cavities are too inter-related.  Stay healthy sister...I don't want to re-schedule.  Today she weighed in at 24 lbs 7.5 oz.  Though after a HUGE lunch at Pizza Hut this afternoon with GG, Great Grandma Siebert & Auntie Molly... I'd guess she weighed closer to 26.  Seriously the girl ate more than me!  We actually had to adjust her carseat straps to fit her bulging belly in the car.  That 3rd eye tooth finally poked through yesterday.  She hadn't really eaten in a week working on that tooth, and apparently decided she had a lot to make up for I guess.

And today she was 33.5 inches tall!!  I knew those little legs of hers were looking long! {and some of her summer dresses are looking pretty short!}  I think her & Hayden are about the same height these days.  Logan's lack of a neck keeps him about 1-1.5 inches shorter.  I'd guess Logan weighs exactly the same as Liv.  And I'd guess Hayden is close to 5 lbs heavier.  And TWENTY ONE MONTHS TOMORROW!!

Our Life Growth Spurt

Change is the reality of life.  Change is what makes life interesting.  Keeps us out of a rut.  Helps us grow.  And right now our life is FULL of it.  I think change is good.  But the reality is that change can also be scary, even terrifying.  I've finally gotten a handle on this being a working mom of triplets thing.  Finally feeling like its not odd to say it out loud.  Now we're stiring up our little world again.  (No, heavens no, we're not having a baby!)

I'm still trying to grasp it all!  Trying to keep up with 3 toddlers, a household, & sort out all the ins-and-outs of all this newness & change.  I'm feeling a little a lot scatter-brained.  So if I'm short on blog posts, or seem like I'm rambling, or forgetting things.  I'm doing the best I can!  We have a lot to sort out.  (some of which is not meant to be blog content, so you may have to read between the lines)  And as you read on about our exciting changes.... just remember that not everything comes about as easy & straight forward as it appears on paper.

First Off -->  Jeff has a JOB!
Through the past year we knew it was a possibility he could find job this fall while he finished school.  Because he already has a bachelor's degree, he would qualify for a provisional teaching certificate.  But we pretty much wrote it off as a pipe-dream.  And prepared ourselves for 1 more year of being this poor.   We discussed him getting a part-time job this fall as he doesn't have too many classes, but realized we would turn around & spend most of if not all of that income on daycare.  So it just made more sense for him to be a stay-at-home-while-in-school-daddy for the fall semester & make my scheduling a little easier.  (Plus to be honest I kind of liked him at home!)

Then, last Thursday he went to meet with his advisor to sort through stuff & make sure he had all his classes squared away.  So he was ready for student teaching in January & graduation in May.  And....ended up in a job interview.  Wearing shorts & a beer t-shirt!  Yeah, it was that impromptu.  Its a part-time teaching job, at a high school in Lincoln.  The classes he will be teaching are being re-arranged to suit him, so he can still attend his afternoon classes he needs for graduation.  Which is great!  Except I had planned my fall schedule as him being "daddy daycare."  We planned on needing daycare set up for January.  And now we need daycare, well starting tomorrow, Friday!!  Tuesday we found out, he officially starts, today, Thursday.  So all of this is happening so fast.  From impromptu interview to starting a job in 1 week.  So my fall agenda of doing our research & finding daycare for January, was put on hyper speed!

Secondly -->  I have a NEW job!
I accepted a full-time position with Lakeside.  It happend a whole lot faster than I planned, hence the lack of advanced notice as you all know I blog EVERYTHING.  But I'm officially there!  Its a very different setting than my old job.  I am working in a smaller, lower acuity NICU.  Its about 1/2 the driving distance from my home.  I get to wear hospital laundered scrubs meaning less lanudry for me to do at home.  And the craziest part... I am cross training to post partum.  Thats the scary part!  {And I'm still not sure how I feel about it.}  Learning how to care for HEALTHY people.  Furthermore, caring for ADULTS!  Yikes!  I'm really enjoying my new co-workers.  {And missing my old ones}  And while I feel very out of my comfort zone, I know I'll get in the groove soon.  Learning new things keeps us young, right?   The biggest (and bestest) change about this new job..... I'm working DAY SHIFT!  This is a huge change for me.  5:30am looks a whole lot different from the flip-side.  And while 12 hour days are long & busy.  And I hardly get home in time to tuck the kiddos into bed.  I'm feeling good.  Enjoying going to bed at the same time as my husband (or trying to).  Enjoying kissing my kids before bed every single night.  Enjoying seeing their excitement when I come home.  Enjoying averaging more than 4-5 hours of sleep a day.  And after just a few weeks, enjoying already starting to "heal" from the "night shift fog."  I've heard people say moving from the night shift is like recovering from a disease you never knew you had, and that it takes longer than you would imagine, several months.  So I'm excited to see how I change & grow after I've made a complete "recovery"  & figured out a new routine.

We are so lucky we were able to, on a whim, find ourself a daycare set up that we are happy with.  We have been doing some research on & off for almost a whole year.  But we finally made a visit in to make sure we were happy with our find.  We'll most likely start there Sept 1.  They will do daycare 1-2 days a week & still have GG daycare the other 1-2 days.  (Auntie Molly will be saving our ass in the mean time, helping out for the next few weeks!  She'll be practicing up for October when our new cousin is born.)  The daycare has very flexible scheduling for me.  It's affordable.  Conveinent.  I'm happy with our find.  But I think its going to be a rough transition for the kids.  Very rough!  Getting up at 6am 2-3 days a week.  That is SO not their style.   Dealing with their still very severe seperation anxiety is going to be hard.  I forsee a lot of tears.  (probably from 3 kids & 1 mommy, who will have to drop them off while hero daddy will almost always get to pick them up)  But I know it will be good for them to get some more socialization outside of our little clique.  I always wanted to get them into a daycare setting around age 2 for that very reason.  Get in some fun activities, crafting & learning opportunities that I don't have the smarts, energy, resources or time to do with them at home.  Learn how to make friends outside of their siblings.  And maybe learn a few things from some older kids.  The daycare's routine in terms of meals & naps is pretty similar to ours.  (except the getting up early thing)  So hopefully that transition won't be too hard.  Wish us luck!

Keep us in your thoughts as we journey through these major transitions. And pray for the kids, that they transition into this new journey well too.

Change is growth.  And this is apparently our spurt!

The County Fair!!

We took the kiddos to their 2nd County Fair!  Saturday afternoon (we thought it wasn't too hot) so we headed out to the fair.  We got there to discover it was infact HOT!  But we went ahead we walked around a little & checked out the tractors & animals.  The kids LOVE animals.   We got to see cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, bunnies, goats & more!
Oh... and I promise, we liked the GREEN tractors best.  Just happened to catch a picture by this one!
 She loves animals!

Livi honestly needs a pet goat. Ok not really... but she SO LOVES them the most.  There was a petting zoo at the fair that we spent quite a bit of time at too!  We have picked up a bunch more animal noises this week (some fair related, some not) We are learning things like a snake says "ssss," a sheep says "aahhhh," a bee says "beezzz," the list goes on!
Some other kids' parents bought some ice cream cones filled with feed for the animals.  But their kids were scared.  So they let Livi & Hayden have the cones!
Oh she loved them!  She would have stayed there all day!
She really loved them THIS much.  Is in sanitary to kiss goats & rams?  A few of them even kissed her back!
We did have one mishap.  Livi's love of animals almost cost her her fingers!  The little donkey thought her fingers were to eat.  He clamped down HARD.  I was doing something with Logan, who prefered to run from animal to animal to animal than hold still & pet one.  Jeff was pulling Hayden's fingers out of that same cage...and snap.  All I knew was Livi was crying.  Then Jeff was prying the donkey's mouth open!  She had some teeth marks on her fingers for an entire day.  Jeff was expecting to pull out a bloody, fleshy mess.  Thats how hard he had her in his grip.  I didn't even see it until it was 85% over.  But I'm glad we had no long-term injuries.  And that she walked over & still wasn't scared of the goats!

We decided it was TOO hot... so we left & hit up the pool.  It wasn't very busy there & for a little while we actually had the whole baby pool to ourselves!!
After a good swim, Jeff & I decided we needed fair-burgers for supper.  We stopped at home, got cleaned up & the kids had supper (because there is zero chance they'd eat anything there).  And then we went BACK to the fair.  Had supper & walked around.  The kids really enjoyed watching the rides.  I think Hayden would have LOVED to go on this one.
But as we watched, a little boy a little older than our kids tried to jump off while it was spinning.  Somehow got out of the buckle & all.  So we rather just watched!

But we did ride the carousel!!  Logan wasn't a fan.  He refused to sit on a horse :(  He actually refused to even let me hold him.  Jeff & I had to trade kids!
Hayden & Livi had a blast (though this picture of Livi doesn't quite show it)  And they did SO good.  Held on & sat nice.  Hayden let go once, but only to clap about his excitement!
This is how much Hayden enjoyed it, this was his response to getting off!

We had a fun Saturday!

The boy is on FIRE!

We still have snot, and a cough here or there.  But I'm actually not talking about temperature fire.  "Word" fire!  Wednesday was kind of a crabby, lazy, cuddle on the couch kind of day.  And its been quite educational for me of things Logan knows!

Logan is saying "bubble" very clearly.  He has a screeching-whining type noise that he says a monkey says.  Even pointed out a monkey to me at Target Thursday afternoon by screeching loudly.  He knows a tiger says "arrrrrr."  He can make a fish face (sometimes) for what a fish "says."  During lunch Wednesday he was pointing at the fridge exclaiming "PAPA!!"  And upon a closer look, there is a picture of my grandparents on the fridge.  He's been calling the picture "papa" all day!  But...Looney Toons was on in the evening & the little ole' grey hair granny was on & he pointed to her & again exclaimed "Papa!"  So I guess that refers to any "grandpa" or "grandma" type figure right now.

Besides Grandma & Grandpa we have also been trying to work on aunts, uncles & cousin's names.  We're not getting too far.  We've been trying to say Addie.... which rather turns into "daddy."  So we have been trying to emphasize the "A!"  Today Livi has been trying.  It sounds a little like her version of all done.  But its somewhere between "AAaaah... duh" & "Aaaah... ye"

And speaking of our trip to Target.  I don't think I can take these kids anywhere anymore.  We left Target with some unplanned purchases Thursday.  3 new shirts & some Thomas the Train videos.  Ok so the videos I wanted to buy at some point anyways.  We picked up some Diaper Genie refills & as we walked past the kids clothes Logan was saying "choo-choo."  I kept walking & it became Logan yelling "CHOO-CHOO!", trying to jump out of the cart & boarderline temper-tantrum about it all.  Sure enough, there was a rack with a bunch of Thomas the Train shirts!  They were long sleeve, & since its August I guess its time to start thinking about fall clothes anyways.  So to avoid a temper tantrum....the boys are each now an owner of a Thomas the Train shirt.  So I figured it wasn't fair to leave Livi out.  So we walked around looking for something for her.  Wasn't long before she was exclaiming "MELMO!"  And again, sure enough there was a rack with Elmo shirts.  So rather than some cutsie-pink-princess shirt, thats what she got.  Are they old enough to pick out their own clothes??

I have been meaning to put up some new videos for a while.  But everytime I sit down to upload them after the kiddos & hubby are in bed, I end up falling asleep on the couch.  So finally here they are!  Some are older, some are newer.

Playing outside in the sprinkler. I was inside getting lunch ready & couldn't resist the opportunity to film them without them knowing!

This video is farily old. Burping.  A funny thing happens to kids when you get out a video camera.  They stop doing what they were doing.  So I had to "encourage" them a little to do it just to catch them on video.  Gross!

Logan shooting hoops.  Check out the form.  Seriously, we did not teach him this! (And listen you can hear Livi saying "Melmo")

And when not shooting, why let the hoop go to waste? Another example of their brilliance!

A little glimpse into the evening crazies triplet style!!

Recommend your thermometer!

We have snot.  And maybe a mild fever?
We are teething... but I think this is germ snot.
Why?  It could be the sudden onset of 3 runny noses.  Or the 6 watery, glassy eyes.  Or the sudden refusal of milk in liue of "juicy."  Or because Livi can't sleep.  She can NEVER sleep with a sick-snotty nose.  Not in bed anyways.  {Thought that would get better when the paci went away... guess not!}

I don't think we've had snot since we ditched the paci.  That was 5+ months ago.  Wow!!  I forgot how annoying it was.  But this too will soon pass.  {And it gives me an excuse to stay up cuddling with Liv on the couch}  Doesn't make me excited for winter though.

Back to the point.  We need a big kid thermometer.  I have a cheapo head scan one & its just that, cheapo.  So inaccurate.  Slow, slow, tick-tock underarm style, no thanks.  5+ months ago with our last sickies, we still did rectal because it was accurate & easiest believe it or not.

But we're pushing 2.... and we need to invest in a big kid thermometer.  Ear.  Forehead.  Something like that.  What do you have & love (or hate)?!?!
