Elmo Obsession

Yep, it has hit us.  The Elmo Obsession. 

While I have wanted my kids to show some interest in TV (which seems insane to say outloud... but just think 30 minutes of quiet time for this mama!)  I never expected one character to catch on like this.  We have tried watching lots of various videos & TV shows & nothing has stuck... until "Melmo" or "Ca coe" {depending on who you ask}  But what do you do when your kids stand there pointing at the TV saying "Melmo" "More?"  Don't worry, we still do PLENTY of playing.  And activities outside of the house.  TV most definately has not consumed us.  But I am enjoying the bits of quiet... err rather... sitting still time that it has given me.

We have ONE Elmo sing along video, Elmos Sings Country Songs, or something like that.  The kiddos have it memorized.  If it is still playing in the background while we are in another room & they hear a certain song, they start making horse noises.  Why?  Because they know there is a horse in that part of the video.  Or 1 song before a song that is about a train... they all start running around saying "Choo-choo!"  They know what is coming up next. 

We need to get more Elmo videos, because I just about have it memorized too.  And we need to get some more sing along videos.  Because one of the songs has chickens singing "If you're happy & you know it clap your wings" & Livi already has that one figured out & claps right along.  Or maybe we should just invest in DVR??

So while its TV, which gets a big BOO from some peeps, just this one video has taught my kids a ton of stuff {and has allowed me the quite time today to sit down & tell you about it!}

So while his squeeky little voice & occasionally unproperly spoken English is a little annoying... I'm on the bandwagon.  Thanks Elmo!
