Missouri River

Jeff is ahead in one of his classes so he got to take a Thursday night off!  So late that afternoon we took a trip down to the Pedestrian Bridge to catch a little glimpse of the Missouri River flooding in Omaha.  There is a LOT of water!  Its amazingly sad to think about all the people who have lost their homes.  And all the damage that is being done to all the roads & highways that are underwater.  Its hard to tell from the pictures & its even hard for me to picture what it looked like down there before the flooding to compare since we don't go downtown often.  But all I know is there is a lot of water & it is running fast!

 When you look at this next picture, notice in front of the building, part way under water, some red umbrellas.  Now go back to this post & check out those same umbrellas.  {And how much the kids have grown up in just 5 months!}
 Notice all the trees 1/2 under water... that is all supposed to be dry land.  And look how far back the water goes beyond the tree line!  And look how close the water is to reaching the pedestrian bridge even!
 Livi checking out the flood, refusing to look at the camera.
 The boys really enjoyed the fact that the airport was near by & apparently busy!
Afterwards we went out for supper at Red Robin. {Yum!}  The kiddos LOVED them some onion rings.  And they have Pizza on the kids menu, can't beat that!  Plus were tons of families, with tons of loud kids in there so it was the perfect place to eat & not feel like we were a side show attraction!  I love fun little family outings!
