Start the count down to 2. Only 2 months of being ONE left! I can't believe it. They are just growing up way to fast (See previous post freaking out about them crawling out of cribs if you need proof). Birthday party plans are in the works! I'm starting prayers now that this beautiful weather holds out for another 2 months!
Speaking of crawling out of cribs. Monday after naps, again 2 kids crawled out. Tuesday when GG babysat, no one made it out. But she went jetting in when she heard someone saying "down" knowing it was only a matter of time. So I think we'll just see how the rest of the week goes before making any major decisions.
Whats else going on with us latey? Mostly just more of the same. Learning & growing.
Everyday someone comes up with a new word or 2. Still most of them strangers wouldn't understand. And yes, I still call a meaningful sound a word. As in pointing to a picture of a snake & saying "sssssss" thats a word to me. Or watching TV, seeing an elephant & throwing one hand up in the air (like a trunk) & making their own version of an elephant noise... that to me is a word. Its the connection between an object & a nosie that matters to me right now. Eventually they will put more real words with it. For example, Olivia now says puppy. So she can say "oof oof" "puppy" or "Tess" (for Tessa our dog) & know what it all means. Or when we cook chicken nuggets they eat them & say "bak bak" (because thats what a chicken says... duh!) It just cracks me up the things they think of!
I like getting together with Tisha, Aaron & Addie to see where she is in terms of speech. I remember when we were up there in May looking at where Addie was with talking, & thinking... oh there is no way our kids will be at that point in 2 months. And low & behold, I think they are. Then watching her put together thoughts this weekend... and thinking WOW, I hope our kids are to that point in 2 months when they turn 2. Its fun to have a "glimpse into the future." Speaking of Addie, Livi has NOT stopped talking about her since we've been home. Not that Livi was all that interested in actually playing with her when we were there.
Logan, though he doesn't talk as often, has really made the most progress with language this month. He'll occasionally rattle off a word or 2 I had no idea he knew. Like at Tisha & Aarons over the weekend, he opened a cabinet door, saw a can of Mt. Dew, all nonchalant, said "pop" closed the door & went about his merry way. Or when we had company last week he said "baby," I didn't know he knew that one either. He also points to & says "eye" so he can now name his first body part. He knows a lot, he just isn't a show off, type A personality like the other two.
Hayden's newest few words, he says "Li la" (Olivia) & his verion of Logan, which 9 times out of 10 comes out "No-no." Occasionally there is a "Lo-no" but thats what he means. He also points to his or other people's eyes & says "eye." So he can also name his first body part. He says "hot" & likes to blow on his food before he eats it. Its one of my new favorite things :)
Olivia continues to be in the talking lead by putting 2 or 3 words together. Her newest 2 words are "wubies" (lovies, their night-night blankets) and "cookie" which refers to a snack & Cookie Monster. She & Hayden both can put a finger to their lip & say "Shhhh" when they want someone to be quiet. Which is usually done to a sibling when they are crying in time out. But sometimes they do it to a loud, barking Tessa too! She can also count to 3!
Boys... still in love with anything that goes. Cars, trains, airplanes.
Olivia... is all about Elmo. And starting to get into babies. Or she is into whatever she can steal from her brothers to make them cry.
I've bought them a few clothes items for fall/winter. Mostly 2T stuff. A few pants are 24 month for their short legs & Logan for now fits into some of Hayden's 18 month jeans from last year. And I got some 3T shirts, mostly for Hayden, they are a little big, but I want him to wear them for more than a day! He is just so broad he needs bigger size shirts than pants. Such a different body build than Log & Liv. I bet his chest is 3 inches around wider than theirs. Great Grandma Siebert got them some new tennis shoes a few weeks ago, Logan & Livi's are size 6, Hayden's are size 7! Holy crap! (Yet in reality, in comparison I don't think they are all that big of kids!) In preparation for winter, I have found thus far 2 very nice winter coats & 2 pair of snow pants. So I just have 1 kid left to go. Then we need some gloves, boots & winter play things (like sleds) because we can't stay cooped up in this little house all winter long!
I have already found their birthday present (a Craigslist score). And everytime I go to Target or Walmart I have to resist stalking up on things for Chirstmas already. Trying to think about what type of toys they will grow into over the next year. What are your 2 year olds favorite things??
Crazy to say, we are almost TWO. Where has the time gone?
