Toddler Word Funnies

Some days I'm completely exhausted at the end of the day, just from playing translator for toddler vocabulary.  But I think when the time comes that its a thing of the past, I'll definately miss it!  Its another special bond parents have with their kids, seperate from the rest of the world.  Our own little language.  Besides the occasional "run on sentence" {of which I understand nothing}, I think I understand 90% of what the kids say.  I think?  But I'm guessing most people would only get about 50% or less.

"Ya-ya nummy"
"Rar nigh-nigh"
"Go-gun mok"

Get any of that??!!  Any guesses on what it all means??

*Olivia... still our lead talker.  NEVER.SHUTS.UP!  And repeats nearly everything, so be careful!!  But everyone says girls, of any age, lead the pack on this one ;)
*Hayden... in second.  Working on his skills of stringing 2 words together, and doing pretty well with it!
*Logan... while his vocab is improving, I sometimes worry that so many of his "words" sound so much alike.  With time, hopefully, with time.  However, I feel bad when he gets frustrated when we don't understand what he wants.

If its not translating that exhausts me, its the fact that they have to constantly point out the obvivous... just because they know the word.

For example, there is a lady on TV.... Yep kids, I get it... she has eyes & teeth.  You don't have to say it 1000 times!

Here are just a few randoms that you hear around here lately:

"may may"
Livi's version of Mater (from CARS)
Logan's version sounds more like "nigh nigh" maybe "nay nigh"-- see!  {Then again mommy, night-night & banana were all the same word for a long-long time & now they are clearly different.}
Hayden's version, similar to Livi's.
*Surprisingly no one to my knowledge says Lightning McQueen... just Mater.

When Olivia farts she can sometimes be heard exclaiming: "Ya-ya butt!" followed by giggles

She also says "a-choo" after anyone sneezes or coughs.

Hayden points to the baby wipes saying:  "Butt wies"

Olivia is getting more body parts down.  In addition to eyes, chin, teeth & nose.  She'll point out her knees, or often "Ya-ya two knees."  And her "bo-bo" (elbow)

Oh & Hayden pointed out "mommy knee" today too!

Logan calls every little girl he sees "Yi-ya" (Olivia).  And every little boy is "Nu-nen" (Hayden).  He also calls every man & woman on TV "mommy" & "daddy!"  Actually, I think he calls both himself & Hayden "Nu-nen"... but I'm not completely sure?

Olivia still calls Hayden "Maas"... which will never quit being funny by the way!

Instead of just saying "No." Olivia now has to say "No way!" to everything, everything!

On one occasion, when asked what she wants to eat Livi replied "Mac Mac n' bak bak" (Bak bak.... what a chicken says = chicken nuggets!)  Silly!  Bak bak are chicken nuggets in our house.

"Bubble"- yes it means the obvious, bubble.  But in Logan's book, it also refers to waffle.  (see what I mean, its a little tricky here!)

What are some of your favorite toddler words/phrases that your kids say/said??
